1. Eat Right
The food you eat plays a major role in how you feel both physically and mentally. 2. Just Breathe
You are bound to experience stress, anxiety, or frustration during your day. Making a point to experience calmness at the start of your day will set you up for a more peaceful mindset when those stresses and trials come your way. A regular routine of breathing exercises will help ease your stress. Wearing comfortable clothes, find a comfortable spot to get started. Inhale through your nose, fill your belly with air, and exhale through your nose. Placing one hand on your belly and one on your chest, notice your belly rise (when inhaling) and lower (when exhaling). Do this for 2 to 10 minutes while focusing on your breath and your mind while saying to yourself, “I breathe in peace and calm,” and “I breathe out stress and tension.”
3. Go outwards
In the United States, adults spend more than 90% of their lives indoors. In an effort to improve holistic health, an intentional shift toward spending more time outdoors supports your physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Time in nature helps reduce blood pressure, reduces allergies and respiratory issues, boosts mood and energy, increases gratitude, and helps improve focus. Prioritizing time outdoors is a significant way for you to improve holistic health.
4. Plant-based diet
Limit animal-based foods and cut down on carbs. Eat mostly vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, seeds, and nuts. Berries are among the most healthful fruits, and vegetables are even better. Eat the rainbow – fruits and vegetables with different colors provide different nutrients and phytochemicals (disease-fighting compounds found in plants).
5. Let Nature heal you
Studies have found that spending time in nature boosts mood. A walk in the woods also might boost the immune system.
